Privacy Policy — TurboFind

Last updated: 17 August 2026

TurboFind is a Chrome extension published by Sidecar Tools. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your information.

The short version

TurboFind does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. It has no analytics, no tracking, and no accounts. Everything it does while running happens locally in your browser. The only information that ever leaves your device is a small, non-identifying record sent if you uninstall the extension, described in full below.

What TurboFind accesses

The page you are searching. When you open TurboFind on a tab (by clicking the toolbar icon or pressing the keyboard shortcut), it reads that page's text in order to find and highlight your search terms. This happens only on the tab you are actively using, only when you invoke the extension, and only for as long as you are using it. TurboFind does not run in the background, does not read pages you have not opened it on, and does not send any page content anywhere.

Your saved lists and settings. If you save lists of search terms, or change settings such as case sensitivity or per-site preferences, TurboFind stores these using Chrome's built-in storage. Saved lists use Chrome Sync, which means they are available across the Chrome browsers where you are signed in to your Google account. This syncing is handled entirely by Google as part of Chrome; the data is between you and Chrome Sync. Sidecar Tools never receives, sees, or has access to it.

Install date and usage flag. TurboFind also stores, in your browser's local extension storage, the date it was installed and whether a search has ever found matches. These two values are used only to populate the uninstall feedback page described below.

What TurboFind does NOT do

If you uninstall the extension

When you remove TurboFind, Chrome opens a short feedback page. Opening that page sends the following to a server operated by Sidecar Tools:

That is all. It does not include any identifier, any account, anything you searched for, any page content, or which sites you visited. There is no way to link this record to you or to any other record.

The feedback page itself asks one optional multiple-choice question and offers an optional free-text box. It requires no email address, no account, and no personal details. You can close the page without answering, and nothing further is sent.

This information is stored in a database operated by Sidecar Tools, hosted with Supabase in Sydney, Australia. It is used only to understand why people stop using the extension.

Permissions

TurboFind requests only the minimum permissions needed to work:
